We are Comp AI. We launched on April 4, 2025. We have 630+ customers, 1,500+ GitHub stars, and every line of our core system is open source. This post explains how Comp AI is built differently, and why those structural differences matter when a real auditor, enterprise customer, or regulator looks at your report.

How Comp AI Is Different: 9 Verifiable Facts

None of what follows is marketing copy. Every claim below can be verified in our GitHub repository, our documentation, or our auditor records. That verifiability is the point.

1. Our codebase is public. Verify it yourself.

Comp AI's core platform is open source under AGPL. Over 1,500 developers have starred the repository. You can read every check we run, every integration we support, and every API endpoint we expose.

2. Our policies are generated from your context. Not a template.

Every Comp AI policy is generated based on information customers provide during onboarding. The output is specific to your company: your infrastructure, your team size, your risk profile, your vendors.

3. Our integrations are real API connections. 549 of them.

As of April 23, 2026, Comp AI has 549 live integrations: real API connections that pull live data from the platforms your business actually runs on. These sync employee profiles, pull evidence from third-party platforms, and update in real time when your systems change.

4. Our device agent runs 24/7. It doesn't ask for screenshots.

Comp AI's device agent is a lightweight background process that runs continuously on every employee device. It checks in real time for:

  • Full disk encryption
  • Antivirus software status
  • Screen lock configuration
  • Password length and complexity requirements
  • Other security policy settings

If a device falls out of compliance, the system knows immediately.

5. Our trust portals reflect real-time system state.

Comp AI trust portals only display controls that are actively passing. The moment a policy is moved to draft, or a control check fails, it disappears from the public-facing portal automatically, with no manual intervention required.

6. Our evidence is logged, timestamped, and re-runnable.

Every piece of evidence collected in Comp AI, whether from an integration, an automated test, or a manual upload, is logged with a timestamp and attributed to a specific check. Customers can re-run checks, export evidence, and trace any finding back to its source.

Manual uploads such as screenshots and documents are also logged, timestamped, and attributed. This is not ideal compared to automated evidence, and we're transparent about that. But it is the truth.

7. Customers can write and run their own automated checks.

Any Comp AI customer, at no additional cost and without an enterprise license, can create automated evidence collectors. In plain language:

"Verify that SSL is enabled on my production domain": Comp AI generates the code, runs it daily, and logs the result.

"Go to our GitHub repo, click Settings, click Rulesets, verify that X rule exists": Comp AI opens a real browser, navigates the page, and screenshots the result.

Every run is logged. Every result is auditable. The code is inspectable.

This is what AI-native compliance actually looks like.

8. Failures are visible. That's the whole point.

This is the most important distinction, and the one most compliance platforms obscure.

At Comp AI, when a device isn't encrypted, a check fails. When a control isn't satisfied, it falls off the trust portal. When a test can't be verified, the evidence record reflects that. Our system is designed so that failures are surfaced, not smoothed over.

Across 176 completed SOC 2 Type II audits, our auditors have logged 2,327 exceptions, an average of 13.2 per customer, with a typical range of 8–17. The 90th-percentile customer has roughly 3x the exceptions of the 10th-percentile customer. That variation exists because our customers have genuinely different security postures, and our system accurately reflects that difference.

These are real audit findings, not pre-written conclusions.

We publish these numbers because they're real. Exception counts exist because our auditors find real issues. Completions are counted because auditors independently signed off, not because a script auto-generated the conclusion.

The Structural Difference

The competition may have flawed models and meaningless attestations that have the appearance of compliance, but not actual compliance.

Comp AI is built on the opposite assumption: that compliance is only valuable if it's true. That means your trust portal only shows what you've actually verified. Your device checks run automatically, not on self-reported screenshots. Your policies describe your company, not a template company. Your auditor finds your exceptions, not a script.

SOC 2 and ISO 27001 exist so that your customers, partners, and regulators can trust your security claims. If the underlying system is designed to manufacture that trust rather than earn it, the certificate isn't protection. It's exposure.
