About Cap
Cap is an open-source screen recording platform for teams that want to create, edit, and share recordings while staying in control of their data. Based in Liverpool, UK and registered in Delaware, Cap is positioned as an open-source alternative to Loom for teams that care about ownership and flexibility.
The platform pairs fast screen recording with local editing, instant sharing, comments, transcripts, and analytics. Teams can collaborate in shared workspaces, publish to custom domains, bring their own S3 storage, and even self-host – giving them control over both their recordings and the infrastructure behind them.
As Cap moved upmarket and began serving larger teams, compliance became increasingly important. Enterprise buyers expected proof of security and operational maturity, and meeting that expectation turned into a prerequisite for the deals Cap wanted to win.
The Problem
Without compliance, Cap was losing deals. Enterprise buyers wanted proof of security before signing, and the team had already watched opportunities stall or slip away for lack of it.
Cap had lost a number of enterprise opportunities, and others dragged because buyers needed stronger assurance. As the team put it: “We’ve lost a bunch of enterprise deals, or deals have taken a lot longer.”
Cap needed to get audit-ready fast and without a heavy price tag. Pricing and speed were the deciding concerns.
The Solution
Comp AI was an easy call: open source, competitive pricing, and a team Cap could actually reach. For a company built on open source and customer ownership, an open-source compliance platform fit naturally.
Comp AI ran the whole process with the team over Slack, email, and Google Meet, pairing automation with hands-on human help so Cap could manage everything in one place.
The most valuable workflows were automated evidence collection, automated questionnaires, and coordinating pentesting and audit work directly in Slack. As Cap described it: “Automated collection, questionnaire, and pentesting/audit in Slack – all in one place.” The combination of software and service helped them move quickly while still getting human support.
The Result
Cap was audit-ready in one month, saving roughly a month of documentation collection even with internal staging-environment blockers in the way.
The SOC 2 audit was still in progress at the time of this feedback, but the expected impact was clear: compliance would help Cap move faster on enterprise deals. For a company that had lost enterprise opportunities or seen deals slow down, audit-readiness gave them a stronger path into larger customers.
Cap summed it up in four words: “Fast. Affordable. Reliable. Human.”
Conclusion
For Cap, compliance was always about removing the blockers that were slowing enterprise deals. With Comp AI, the team became audit-ready in one month, saved a month of documentation collection, and gained a practical path toward SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA.
The result is a clearer route into the larger customers Cap was already pursuing, backed by a partner the team trusts to carry that work forward.
